5 Minutes with...

This month’s guest on Rise and Vibe®, is Sarah Moessmer from Little Movement Studios.

For those of you who follow my Instagram, you’ll know that my daughter and I are big fans of Sarah’s Zumbini class. It lights up our Saturday mornings.

Do you have little ones who love to sing and dance around the house? Or maybe you are pregnant and are looking for a class to help you stay fit and healthy throughout your pregnancy? Then Little Movement Studios is for you.

Originally from America, Sarah founded Little Movement Studios in Munich and I caught up with Sarah recently to talk all about starting a business in a new country and what inspires her.

Thank you so much for being the first guest on Rise and Vibe. So what brought you to Munich?

LOVE! After college, I was totally burnt out and really needed a break so I decided to pack my backpack and go on an adventure. I travelled all over Europe both alone and with my girlfriends, it was really a pivotal time in my life. I ended up living in the Czech Republic teaching English and decided one weekend to pop on over to Munich for Oktoberfest. On the second day, I met my now-husband and really the rest from there is history! I moved to Munich fairly quickly after that and have been here ever since!

What do you most love about living in Munich?

This is such a hard question because I love so much about Munich! I think my absolute favourite thing about living here is how much I feel at home. I come from Gilbert, Arizona and always knew that I didn’t belong there. I tried tons of different cities out and nothing really click, well, until Munich.

What inspired you to start Little Movement Studios?

Little Movement Studios just kind of happened due to my own interests and really grew into something amazing. Since moving to Munich I have been working in the Krippe and with families. I absolutely loved supporting them but really wanted more.

For those that are not familiar with Zumbini can you tell us more?

Absolutely, Zumbini is a 45-minute early childhood development class that is all about singing, dancing, learning and BONDING! Designed by the makers of Zumba, Zumbini is jammed packed full of cool dancing moves, catching songs, and SO MUCH MORE! This class is perfect for children ages 0-5 and their parents.

Zumbini not only gives the kiddos the chance to socialize but also the parents. You will not only strengthen the bond with your child through my Zumbini classes but also with the other parents also attending the class.

Is there a special moment on your Little Movement Studios journey that you are most proud of?

I think I am most proud of starting. I was really nervous in the beginning because I really didn’t know what to expect and I was of course, worried about making mistakes but honestly, that is all part of running a business! Having ideas is easy but starting and taking a risk is hard; that is why I am really proud that I took the leap and started Little Movement Studios!

What advice would you give other women looking to start their own business in a new country?

Just go for it! Like I said above, it is scary to start something especially when you have no idea what to expect but making mistakes is a huge part of becoming successful and if you put the work in, you will do great!

Do you have a favourite quote that you live by?

“Nothing is impossible!” I have always hated when people told me when something wasn’t possible. I simply do not believe that. Some things are, of course, more difficult but anything is possible if you put the work in and believe in yourself!

What do you have coming up next?

Dancing Through Pregnancy, is my brand-new class. It is currently on Zoom and soon to be in person in Obersendling. It is perfect for all mamas at every stage of pregnancy. During this hour-long class, you will work to stretch out all those tricky spots that are causing you pain as well as loosen up your muscles for when it is time to give birth. On top, you will work on strengthening your muscles to also prevent pain but also to make you stronger for when baby is finally here.

Lastly, during DTP you will DANCE!

The dancing portion of this class helps to improve cardio and

Dancing Through Pregnancy is so much more than a prenatal class for soon to be mamas. It is also a place for mommies to be, to connect and make friendships and to find a strong community all while getting a workout in. I’m super proud of it.
